Diet and exercise
Exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet is important for both physical and mental health and a basic prerequisite for coping with everything that student life entails.
Why is it important to move?
Exercising regularly is important in many ways, including reducing the risk of developing diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Today, we also know that there is a clear connection between exercise and mental well-being. In fact, there is not much that is healthier for both the soul and body and soul than to exercise.
Studying can mean a lot of sedentary for large parts of the day , but the flexible life also gives you flexibility and freedom which, together with a little motivation, can be used to take care of you and your health.
You can test your exercise and eating habits in the Student Health Service's lifestyle test. It gives you personal feedback on your results and can be a good starting point for change.
Both your body and brain need food to function
Good and regular eating habits are important for you as a student to be able to cope with your studies, but can be difficult with a limited budget. But not prioritizing a varied diet can mean a lack of energy for both studies and physical and mental well-being.
Don't forget to eat properly – even when you have an exam or deadline. It will help you perform better!
If you want to learn more about the connection between your brain and what you eat, there is a film on the Swedish Brain Foundation's website: The food that your brain likes
Food and physical activity can also be a problem for us, feel free to contact us at the Student Health Service if you need help in any way with your diet or exercise habits.
