Graduate course in respiratory nursing 7,5 ECTS credits
This course provides in-depth knowledge of current research in nursing care for people with respiratory diseases. It covers approaches and interventions to support patients with lung conditions.
Participants
The course is aimed at registered/licensed nurses in healthcare who have an interest in and a need for enhanced competence in nursing people with pulmonary diseases.
Eligebility
The course is a contract education that can be arranged for a fee from a legal entity, i.e. public clients or private companies, for the skills development of employees. The organisation that orders the contract education (the client) decides who can participate. However, contract education follows the same requirements and maintains the same quality as other higher education programmes.
The recommendation is that the participants are registered/licensed nurses.
Content
- Knowledge of respiratory nursing care for pulmonary diseases, including person-centred care, care needs, interventions, and support for patients.
- Skills in searching, evaluating, and compiling current respiratory nursing research for a practical application.
- Ability to plan, initiate, and participate in development and quality improvement work within one's organization.
Structure and approach
In addition to strengthening and raising the participants' skills, the course will also contribute to organisational development. This is made possible, among other things, by encouraging cooperation and exchange of experience between the participants. The concept is based on the theory of "situated learning", where current challenges and assignments in one's practice are linked to relevant and current research and theory.
The course corresponds to 5 weeks of full-time studies but is given for about 10 weeks at a 50% study pace (20h/week).
Course start
The current course start is week 42 2026.
Teaching methods
The course is completely digital and distance-based at half-speed, which requires access to a computer, a good internet connection, webcam and headset (or similar). The teaching is in English and supported in the preferred language of the participants in each Nordic country. The distance-based teaching takes place via our learning platform Canvas and the distance tool Zoom. The teaching has a flexible structure and consists of lectures, workshops and examinations.
As a course participant, you are responsible for your learning and are expected to work independently, work with organisation-specific challenges, and take personal responsibility in both individual and joint work.
Formats of examination
To pass the course, attendance at compulsory parts and approved written assignments is required. The grading scale consists of the grades Pass or Fail.
