Call for abstracts
The conference organizers of the eighth Åre Risk Event are inviting abstract proposals on the topic of this year’s conference, Preparedness in a changing world. Åre Risk Event takes place in Åre, Sweden, April 16–18 2024.
During recent years, the world has witnessed a sequence of global crisis scenarios including the pandemic, climate change and extreme weather, energy crisis in Europe, global supply chain disruptions, subversive disinformation, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The aim of the conference is to shed light on how recent events have affected assessments of future risks, preparedness planning, and crisis management protocols on the global, national, regional, and local level.
The Åre Risk Event brings together researchers, practitioners, and people working in public, private, and volunteer organizations for the purpose of knowledge exchange. Talks and presentations interspersed with workshops and other activities comprise the program, which is preliminary at this stage. This format enables researchers to be inspired not only by other researchers, but also by practitioners, who may provide different perspectives on research questions and methods.
The conference is geared towards researchers with an interest in risk assessment, crisis management, and sustainable local communities. Presentations are expected to generate discussions among researchers and practitioners alike.
