In July 17-20th, the annual international research conference IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics, INDIN was arranged in Lemgo, Germany. The conference provides a forum for industrial information technologies where industry experts, researchers and academics are gathering together to share ideas and experiences surrounding frontier technologies, breakthroughs, innovative solutions, research results, as well as initiatives related to industrial informatics and their applications.
This year, Prof. Mikael Gidlund from STC Research Centre at Mid Sweden University, was invited as a keynote speaker. Title of his presentation was “First 5G and now 6G - What will industrial automation benefit from it and what are the key challenges?”.
- It is a true honor to deliver a keynote at the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society flagship conference INDIN since it gathers more than 400 people working in Industrial IoT. My keynote was a journey of 25 years with wireless communication in industrial automation, and that 5G still have significant technical problems to deliver what is promised, but also finding relevant business cases that create value for the end customers. The question is also if the future 6G will be the same old story.
General co-chair of the conference was Juergen Jasperneite, guest professor at Mid Sweden University. Maxin Friesen, PhD student at Mid Sweden University, was responsible for the conference's student activities
INDIN 2023 was hosted by Institute industrial IT of Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe and Fraunhofer IOSB-INA. Lemgo, a small University and Old Hanseatic town located in the region of Ostwestfalen-Lippe, one of the most important industrial regions in Germany and a pioneer in the area of Industry 4.0.
