Real‑World Internship Projects Help Strengthen Elpress’ Employer Brand
Elpress has grown from a local company in Kramfors to a publicly listed business with a global market, subsidiaries, and sales offices around the world—including in the United States.
One of the company’s challenges is attracting top talent while maintaining the close-knit atmosphere and strong engagement that define its culture. This was the challenge that business students Matilda Olsson and Filip Widén took on during their internship at Elpress.
“We’re in an expansive growth phase, managing both new opportunities and the challenges that come with being a growing company,” says Johan Söderlund, Manager of Product & Marketing. He explains that the company’s leadership had already discussed the need to work on their employer brand to increase Elpress’ appeal and ability to attract the right talent.
Elpress manufactures complete crimping systems—including connectors and crimping tools—for electrical connections at its factory in Kramfors, which also houses the company’s R&D unit. In Sundsvall, there is a hub with several departments, including the CEO’s office, marketing, finance, and purchasing. With the green transition, demand for expertise in this area has increased, and the company needs to hire. Johan explains that this is one reason why they wanted to develop a marketing concept tied to their employer brand—a task assigned to the interns.
“It’s been a valuable five-week internship where we’ve really been able to apply theory and analysis in practice. The highlight was probably visiting the factory in Kramfors, seeing the production firsthand, and meeting the employees who generously shared their knowledge and enthusiasm,” says Matilda Olsson, with Filip Widén adding:
“The visit gave us a great overview of the company’s core values and made it easier for us to create the marketing materials that were requested. We presented them in a final briefing before the internship ended, and the feedback was very positive—which was, of course, really rewarding.”
