“Incredibly Educational” – Business Students Reflect on Their Internship at SCA
At SCA’s Business Services in Sundsvall, business students Viktor Åslin and Sofia Engström completed their five-week internship this spring.
They are both studying accounting and finance and are also part-time employees at the office, so SCA’s operations were already somewhat familiar to them.
“The internship gave me the chance to try tasks I don’t usually do as a part-time employee. I got to review annual reports and compile statistical data from Statistics Sweden (SCB), which was incredibly educational,” says Viktor, with Sofia agreeing:
“I worked with invoicing and got to explore the group-wide business systems. There were many opportunities to reflect on what we’ve learned during our studies, and it was valuable to apply our theoretical knowledge in practice.”
The internship assignments were developed in collaboration with their supervisor Jennie Kjellin, team leader at SCA Business Services, based on the students’ own interests. The internship gave them the opportunity to try a variety of tasks. For the company, the internship was equally valuable—especially in terms of long-term talent development.
“It’s important to us that students feel they can grow here and develop based on their own goals,” says Jennie Kjellin. She explains that a lot of time and effort is invested in introducing students to the company’s systems and culture:
“For us, this is a way to showcase the different roles and opportunities we offer—and it’s time well spent.”
