Lecture on the international financial system
Together with Nordea, this week CER hosted a lecture and Q&A session on the theme "How the international financial system works – history, theory and practice".
Nordea's Private Economist Anders Stenkrona, who also holds a PhD in Financial Economics, gave an overview of how the international financial system has emerged, developed and how it works in practice. Interesting elements were how banks and central banks have emerged and the development from "gold and debt" to today's cryptocurrencies. The 80 or so participants on site and via link (teachers, students and partners) also took part in a study on pension funds and global risk as well as the opportunity to categorize funds into seven categories. The event ended with a question and answer session.
