CER Researcher Keynote Speaker at an International AI and Financial Services Conference
Recently, Mustafa Nourallah was invited as a keynote speaker at an international conference in Algeria on AI and financial services. The conference was held at the University of Biskra, one of the country’s largest higher education institutions.
His presentation, entitled “Beyond Automation: Intelligence Transforming Finance,” explored how AI is reshaping financial services, with particular emphasis on areas such as robo-advisory and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). He also highlighted both the opportunities and challenges associated with the adoption of AI in the financial sector.

In addition to the conference, Mustafa Nourallah took part in discussions with representatives from Algerian banks on how regulatory frameworks can be updated to better align with digital banking. He also presented recent research within CER’s priority area, “Digital Banking and Finance.” Following productive discussions with researchers at the University of Biskra, plans are now underway to continue and strengthen this collaboration. The focus will be on exploring how AI can drive innovation in financial services, support small businesses, and enhance opportunities for young people to engage with AI.
