Collaboration levels
MILAB offers different forms of collaboration depending on the scope and frequency of use. The levels range from single-use services to long-term research partnerships.
Collaboration with MILAB can take place at three levels:
Single-use access
Users can purchase services on one or more occasions to have a sample analyzed. Staff at Mid Sweden University provide support with sample preparation and operation of instruments.
Partnership
Frequent users have the option to become a MILAB Partner through a user agreement. This gives access to operate the equipment independently, in accordance with existing guidelines and after completing the required certification training.
Long-term collaboration
At this level, collaboration is formalized through a cooperation agreement. It may include mutual exchange between the parties, such as joint investments in instruments or other shared initiatives.
Most users first come into contact with MILAB through a specific need for a measurement technique, corresponding to the first level.
Opportunities for Industrial PhD Students
As an industrial PhD student, you also have the opportunity to use MILAB’s facilities. Every autumn (September–October) we offer an advanced-level introductory course: FY026A Physics AV, Materials Characterization, 7.5 credits. The course covers the ten most common measurement methods in the field of materials physics and also includes instrument training on a selected instrument, such as an electron microscope, enabling you to operate it independently.
