Organization
As shown in the organizational chart, CER is a research center at the Mid Sweden University. CER is led by a board and a director responsible for the operational activities. The director is part of a board, representing the CER network.
The initiative to establish CER came from a network of companies working to strengthen the operations in banking, insurance, and pensions in the Sundsvall region. The County Administrative Board of Västernorrland played an active role in creating the financial conditions for a research center in this crucial labor market area for the region, utilizing government funds, structural funds, and contributions from the business sector. When CER was founded in August 2008, two additional sectors joined: real estate and accounting/auditing.
CER’s mission is to conduct "industry-relevant" research, disseminate research results to both academics and practitioners, establish a network for the industries to which the activities are limited, and contribute to regional development. The vision is to establish itself as a leading Nordic knowledge center in research and collaboration within one or more of the prioritized areas.
Today, there are just over 30 employees (teachers/researchers, doctoral students, and administrators). These individuals contribute to CER to varying degrees. Within the industry network, the CER network, which is linked to the research center, there is a management group and two working groups that initiate collaborative projects regarding skills provision and skills development. All of these groups include representatives from private and public organizations.
The organizational chart shows that CER is led by a center director responsible for the operational activities. The center director is part of a reference group consisting of nine members.
