The cultural and creative industries (CCI) has in the 21st century often been elevated as a tool for sustainable development in cities as well as rural regions. This includes the developing organizations and businesses in the core of the cultural industry sector, but also ones the wider creative industry, and the vital role the sector often plays in tourism ventures.
Questions on factors regarding how and why certain ventures in the intersection of tourism and the CCI succeed and some do not is the centre of this project, with a particular focus on rural and peripheral perspectives.
Within the framework of Leader Local Action Groups (LAGs) in Sweden, Italy, and Spain, this project aims to contribute with applied R&D around how to best support ventures and business in the tourism / CCI intersection in rural contexts.
