Supporting adoption of climate‑smart solutions with lab‑based experimental social science
The aim of this project is to stimulate adoption of climate change mitigation solutions in tourism and hospitality sector by identification and experimental testing of innovative sustainable business practices.
Tourism and hospitality in Sweden is dominated by small-scale entrepreneurs who in many ways form the backbone of Swedish tourism, especially in rural areas. Rural nature tourism entrepreneurs often show great commitment to sustainability goals but at the same time often lack the resources, knowledge and skills to test and integrate sustainability in practice in their daily operations.
This project provides entrepreneurs with a unique opportunity to identify and test innovative practices and ways of working in an experimental setting supported by the latest scientific knowledge in tourism and consumer behavior. With a vision of replication and scalability, small innovations can provide big opportunities to reduce the cumulative carbon footprint.
