Teaching cultural heritage in a nativistic way
How the normalisation of the rhetoric of the far right found its way into the course literature in preschool teacher education
Researchers who have studied the rhetoric and influence of the far right in society often draw attention to the change in both the political landscape and the interest of voters that has taken place since the turn of the millennium. The pendulum movement towards support for liberal and cosmopolitan values that emerged in Western Europe after the end of WW II, turned in the last decades of the 20th century into a movement towards support for increasingly restrictive and particularistic rhetoric where the distinctiveness and incompatibility of cultures is emphasized.
The project "Teaching cultural heritage in a nativistic way" studies how the normalization of the rhetoric of the far right that has taken place in the West since the turn of the millennium finds its way into Swedish preschool teacher education. The focus is on course literature that deals with the curriculum's (Lpfö18) directive on teaching about cultural heritage.
