Sexual health and freedom from violence among young people in the Region of Jämtland Härjedalen
Sexual health and freedom from violence among young people are the goals of a regional initiative to implement the SEXIT (SEXual Identification Tool) within the Student Health Services at the county's schools
A collaboration project between Mid Sweden University and Region Jämtland Härjedalen, where Mid Sweden University is responsible for evaluating the implementation of SEXIT. The method aims to early identify and provide support to young individuals engaging in sexual risk-taking and/or young people with experiences of violence (victims or perpetrators of violence).
SEXIT consists of preparatory training, a questionnaire, and a handbook used as a tool to ask important and sometimes sensitive questions in a standardized manner during encounters. SEXIT 3.0 was developed by the Knowledge Center for Sexual Health in collaboration with the Sexual Medicine Center-Pilen, the Competence Center for Intimate Partner Violence of the Västra Götaland Region, and the Infectious Disease Control of Västra Götaland.
The goal of the new method is to make the work more strategic, thus strengthening preventive and promotional efforts in the areas of sexual health and violence. The primary target group for conducting SEXIT conversations is youth care professionals, but it is also suitable for other services such as Student Health Services and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
SEXIT 3.0 has been validated and was developed by the Knowledge Center for Sexual Health in collaboration with the Sexual Medicine Center-Pilen, the Competence Center for Intimate Partner Violence of the Västra Götaland Region, and the Infectious Disease Control of Västra Götaland.
The collaboration project is funded by the Swedish Gender Equality Agency and is expected to continue until 2025.
