Physical Electronics and Photonics
Research in physical electronics and photonics at Mid Sweden University focuses on the development of advanced functional materials for photonics and optoelectronic applications.
A central part is the development of rare-earth-doped silica glasses and optical fibers for new laser platforms in the visible and near-infrared spectral regions. The research includes controlled material optimization to achieve stable emission, high efficiency and long-term material stability.
Within this area, we also conduct research on advanced sensor materials for environmental and process monitoring. The work includes new material concepts and material combinations with improved sensitivity, selectivity and robustness. The objective is to enable reliable detection of gases and other relevant parameters in complex environments and to contribute to more efficient and sustainable monitoring systems for industry and society.
