Administrative Law
Research in administrative law at Mid Sweden University covers both general and special administrative law as well as related areas such as public law and welfare law. It focuses, among other things, on legal certainty and individuals’ participation in welfare programmes.
The field of administrative law is very extensive and is usually divided into general and special administrative law:
- Special administrative law primarily concerns the substantive rules within different branches of public administration.
- General administrative law comprises the rules that are common to most branches of public administration, regardless of the authority or policy area involved. It also includes rules on public access to official documents and secrecy, municipal law, and administrative procedure.
Research in administrative law has strong links to research in public law and welfare law:
- Public law is the area of law that regulates the relationship between the state and its citizens, as well as how public power is organised, distributed, and exercised.
- Welfare law is the area of law that examines the legal frameworks of the welfare system, including social law, and addresses individuals’ rights and obligations in relation to public welfare systems such as social services, healthcare, and social insurance.
Within the subject of Law at Mid Sweden University, we conduct research in this field, where we among other things study issues related to legal certainty and participation in welfare programmes.
