Changes to the Library's database selection in 2024

Thu 07 Dec 2023 16:09

There will be no major changes in the library's selection of databases and e-resources after the turn of the year, but there are a few changes which you can read about below.

Bokläsning

We will no longer subscribe to De Gruyter's entire journal collection, but access to the journal Nordic Pulp and Paper Research Journal published by the De Gruyter will remain.

The Swedish journal database ArtikelSök will no longer be available to Mid Sweden users after the turn of the year. We refer those who want to search for Swedish daily press to Retriever Research (formerly Mediearkivet) and Svenska dagstidningar, for more information about these resources see our database list. Artikelsök is available at many public libraries, so check with your local library.

And some good news for those of you who want to publish openly with publishers that only publish open access journals. Starting next year, the governmental research funders will fund publication with the larger of these publishers. The plan is for this funding to begin in stages during 2024 and 2025. More detailed information about this will be forthcoming, read more about the news on the Royal Library's website.

In 2024, we will make a thorough review of databases and e-resources. The ambition is to gain renewed insight into the needs and uses of our resources for research and teaching at the university in order to be able to make well-founded priorities at a time with limited available funds.
