Sociology MA, Quantitative Methods, 7.5 Credits

The course provides an overview of common quantitative methods and recent developments in sociology. Students learn techniques for data collection, analysis, and interpretation, and conduct independent research using a chosen quantitative method. Topics include multivariate analyses, survey design, and the interplay between quantitative and qualitative approaches. Emphasis is placed on performing analyses, interpreting results, and understanding method limitations in different research designs.

The structure of the teaching

The campus course includes several meetings where you are expected to participate on site, and some components require mandatory attendance.

The distance course requires that you have access to a computer with an internet connection. All communication takes place via the course’s online platform and meeting tools such as Zoom.

Entry requirements

A bachelor's degree of at least 180 credits in social or behavioural sciences, of which a minimum of 60 credits in sociology. English level 2/English course 6 from Swedish Upper Secondary School (Gymnasium) or the equivalent.
