About the programme

Tourism is a fascinating global human activity! Now, more than ever, new visions, creativity and shifting priorities are required to help transform tourism into a more sustainable sector. The Master’s Programme in Tourism invites students from different walks of life to contribute to a more sustainable future of tourism. Whether you are interested in a career in the tourism industry or adjacent fields, or simply want to gain academic knowledge about this sector, you can fit this programme to your needs.

The programme offers fundamental courses within the field of tourism and human geography, focusing on up-to-date, sustainable, regenerative and transformative approaches. All teachers are active researchers and keep students up to date with the latest findings within their respective fields.

The programme is taught in English and is offered at Campus Östersund, which is an ideal environment for studying tourism and sustainable development. Close proximity to beautiful nature, the Swedish and Norwegian mountains means that students can easily access many of the region’s top destinations. Since the programme is linked to ETOUR, it enables students to participate in current research and develop international contacts.
