Aim
The course aims to provide the student with advanced knowledge in conducting a scientific prestudy within chemical engineering. By summarizing relevant literature, identifying appropriate research questions and delimitations, and assessing methods for further work, the student develops the ability to establish a solid scientific foundation for a subsequent project. The course also includes training in identifying sustainability considerations, addressing societal and ethical dimensions, and communicating results in English according to scientific conventions.
Course objectives
Upon completion of the course the student should be able to:
- summarize scientific literature relevant for the project;
- carry out a scientific prestudy in the field of chemical engineering;
- draw conclusions on research objectives and limitations for the continued work, as well as which methods are suitable for data collection and analysis in the continued work;
- identify relevant sustainability aspects linked to the scientific study, and make assessments for the continued work with regard to relevant ethical and societal aspects; and
- communicate in English, both orally and in writing, the results from the prestudy in a scientific manner, in accordance with accepted and given norms.
Content
Scientific prestudy in the field of chemical engineering. Summarize relevant scientfic litterature. Data collection and analysis that is adapted to the project's research objectives. Presentation of results and conclusions from the prestudy, in English according to the given standards.
