Digitalisation, Education And Design: The role of the teacher

The aim of this open conference is to bring together researchers, practitioners as well as people from the industry to discuss challenges relating to digitalisation, education and design: the role of the teacher.  Teachers have difficulties in finding time to learn, use and integrate ICT in their teaching, to design and organise learning activities so that students can develop their digital competences. Sometimes teachers need to be convinced that ICT can improve their work if their intention to use ICT in teaching and learning activities is to become a reality. Challenges like these might be even tougher considering the rapid development of virtual reality and ICT-tools related to the recent trend of ‘the Internet of things’. New ICT that already have started to find their way in to education.

For the day we have invited three international keynote speakers who will give 30 minutes’ inspirational talks that each is followed by interactive and participant-driven sessions.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS ARE:

• Rose Luckin, Professor of Learner Centred Design, UCL Knowledge Lab London Title of the presentation: AI in Education: Blending Human Intelligence and Machine Learning
  
   
• Sofia Serholt, Post Doc, Interaction Design, Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Chalmers University Title of presentation: Social Robots in Education: Moving Beyond the Hype
  
  
• Rune Krumsvik, Professor in Educational Science. Department of Education University of Bergen. Title of the presentation: Title: Digital competence and digital inequality in upper secondary school

Each presentation is followed by a session, where we in smaller groups will discuss challenges presented by the keynotes speaker as well as challenges, you and other participants are facing in your work with networked learning for professional development. See the full program here: Programme 

During registration we will invite you to briefly describe a challenge or a question, you face in your work and practice. These challenges and questions will help us organise and shape the interactions in the thematic session

The symposium is free of charge but we want your registration no later than 12th of November (se below).
