Information for new associate professors and recognized or distinguished teachers

Academic ceremony 9-10 October, 2025

The Academic Ceremony extends over two days, 9-10 October. On Thursday, new honorary doctors and professors will hold inaugural lectures on campus Östersund. On Friday, the ceremony will take place at F214, campus Östersund. 

Your role during the ceremony

As an associate professor and a recognized or distinguished teacher, you do not participate on stage during the ceremony. However, your name will be read out during the ceremony together with the other newly appointed associate professors and qualified and excellent teachers.

Banquet

The ceremony is followed by a banquet that begins with mingling at the Gamla Teatern. The dinner is framed with speeches and entertainment. 

Mid Sweden University invites you who are a newly appointed associate professor and a recognized or distinguished teacher to the formal banquet. You can also bring one accompanying person with you to this event.

At the end of August, you will receive an official invitation to the holiday with a link to our registration system. Please note that you must register yourself and any accompanying person for the formal banquet in the registration system. 

Dress code

For you and any accompanying person who will be attending the banquet, formal dress, i.e. dark suit or dress apply.

Travel and hotels

The university reimburses travel between campus locations for those who have been appointed recognized or distinguished teachers and associate professors. If you live in a place other than the campus locations, you pay for your own travel. Your accompanying person pays for any travel themself.

The university pays for hotels for those who do not have Östersund as their place of work. Your accompanying person stays with you free of charge. Hotels can be booked through Lingmerths.  

Material for digital presentation 

In connection with the academic ceremony, we will show a digital presentation with our new honorary doctors, doctors, professors, associate professors and recognized or distinguished teachers. For this, you need to submit a picture and information.
