Research
My research examines the existential dimensions of algorithmic personalisation — the recommendation systems embedded in platforms such as Spotify, Netflix, and TikTok. Drawing on existential phenomenology, particularly Martin Heidegger's analysis of technology and being, I investigate how these systems shape consumer identity, autonomy, and well-being. A central concern is the Heideggerian question of what happens to the openness of human existence when algorithms continuously narrow who we can become.
My previous research has addressed social entrepreneurship, regional firm dynamics, SME financing, and bank profitability, published in journals including Small Business Economics, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour & Research, Managerial Finance, International Journal of Bank Marketing, and Journal of Economic Studies.
