Oskar Englund researches strategies for, and implications of, society's transition from a fossil-based to a bio-based economy. His research includes land use and energy systems, from local to global levels, with a special focus on the production of biomass for food, fiber, other biomaterials, and energy. The research primarily aims to identify sustainable land use strategies that manage trade-offs between various interests and goals concerning, e.g., climate change and other environmental aspects, energy security, and food security.
Oskar is head of subject for Environmental Science and Environmental Technology and sits on the Faculty Board of NMT. He is also the director of third cycle education at the department (NDH).
Background
Oskar Englund holds a PhD in Energy and Environment from Chalmers University of Technology. He has a background in Automation and Mechatronics Engineering, specialized in Industrial Ecology. Oskar has previously worked at the Division of Physical Resource Theory at Chalmers, as a project coordinator, PhD student, and researcher. He has also been a visiting researcher at the University of Gothenburg, Lund University of Technology, and the European Commission's research center (JRC) in Ispra, Italy.
