Mid Sweden University has adopted a new procedure for the administration of remote working abroad and employment involving employers in multiple countries. The procedure is intended to ensure a consistent and legally compliant approach to handling cases that may affect the University's obligations.

The procedure has been developed on the basis of the recommendations of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions (SUHF) and the Swedish Agency for Government Employers' guidance in the area. The document clarifies the division of responsibilities, assessment criteria and decision-making process for employees who wish to work from another country or who have, or plan to have, employers in several countries.

The starting point is that each case must be examined individually. The assessment takes into account, among other things, the needs of the business, work environment, information security, insurance coverage, tax, social insurance and administrative and financial consequences.

The new procedure applies until further notice and does not apply to business travel or employment regulated by URA agreements.

The procedure is published among Mid Sweden University's governing documents under the heading Personal (Personnel) on the page Administration, support and service (in Swedish) and has the reference number MIUN 2026/2392.
