The Japanese ambassador to Sweden, Masaki Noke, has this week carried out his second visit to Mid Sweden University in 2023 and this time it was the Östersund campus that attracted him.

At short notice, a curious request recently came from the Japanese Embassy, whose first secretary Yusuke Mori wondered if it was possible to make a new visit to Mid Sweden University when the visit to Campus Sundsvall in January this year was perceived as so successful.

The request was of course answered with a YES and a two-hour program was quickly set up. On Tuesday afternoon, the ambassador therefore had the chance to listen to the centre leaders of ETOUR and RCR, Robert Pettersson and Aron Larsson respectively. The meeting was also attended by Kai Kronenberg, ETOUR, Dean Anna Olofsson and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Håkan Wiklund. The lab and test environments at the Swedish Winter Sports Research Centre and the Sports Tech Research Centre were then demonstrated.

"It's always fun to follow how much fascination our business creates among outsiders, because sometimes we get blind. The ambassador was very curious, committed and inquisitive and seemed pleased with his second visit to us. I would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who contributed to the fact that it was possible to produce a comprehensive and varied programme despite the fact that the request came at such short notice," says Håkan Wiklund, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and host of the visit.
