Mid Sweden University joins Skellefteå Universities Alliance

Mid Sweden University has signed a letter of intent which means that the university, as one of five higher education institutions, joins the new alliance that is described as "the country's first test bed for academic innovation and renewal".

The news was presented on Wednesday in a press release from Skellefteå Municipality, which could then also tell that Mälardalen University announced its intention to be part of SUA as early as October 9 and another four universities have now joined; University West, Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences, University of Gävle and Mid Sweden University.
 
"We know that research and higher education are of central importance for growth and skills supply. Through the social development we are now seeing in Norrland, a special responsibility lands on us universities in the region and therefore it is natural for Mid Sweden University to be part of SUA, says Anders Fällström, Vice-Chancellor of Mid Sweden University, in the press release.
 
The detailed forms for Mid Sweden University's involvement in the Skellefteå Universities Alliance will be worked out in 2024.
