In February, upper secondary schools and folk high schools are invited to an Open House at both campus locations. On the schedule is inspiration and information for further studies at universities and colleges.

For the students at JGY, Jämtlands Gymnasium, it is a permanent feature to visit Mid Sweden University when an Open House is arranged.

"It's valuable to us that we get to come to you and meet students and staff, see your premises, visit the programmes. That the pupils get a picture of the university. But also to broaden perspectives, inspire further studies, gain knowledge about university studies, etc., says Frida Henriksson, study and career counsellor at JGY Wargentin.

At JGY Wargentin there are about 650 students in the graduating classes and it is mandatory for everyone to attend the Open House. Due to great interest, this year registration is required to participate and if all of them are registered or not, Frida Henriksson does not know. But of course she knows that it is a priority, and important.

"Open houses can encourage students in their current studies if they find their dream education. It's valuable to visit on site, they start thinking about university studies and questions arise in the minds of students after the visit to the open house," she says.

Questions such as how it works to study, what is required of you as a student, the structure of programmes and courses and entry requirements are common among upper secondary school students. Questions that can also be asked to teachers, students and study counsellors on site during the Open House.

Open houses will be held in Sundsvall on 21 February and in Östersund on 28 February.
