− We are now working on the practical preparations for the site visits and it feels like we have the situation under control, says Håkan Wiklund, pro-Vice Chancellor.

The purpose of the entire research evaluation is to provide an overall picture of research and postgraduate education within the environments at Mid Sweden University and to obtain recommendations for further development.

In the first stage, the research at Mid Sweden University’s research centre, including research subjects and third-cycle cources and study programmes was evaluated. In the second round, other research subjects and the remaining doctoral education are evaluated. When the outcome of the first round of ARC21 was reviewed, this resulted in the evaluation period being changed so that it is now the time period 2017-2021 that is to be evaluated.

The site visits begins in Sundsvall where the Vice Chancellor, pro-Vice Chancellor, deans and the head of research and education support (FUS) give short presentations about the university. All experts and representatives of the various units of assessments (UoA) take part in the presentations. The day ends with dinner. The visiting week then continues in Sundsvall and Östersund with separate meetings within the various UoA.

At the end of May, the expert groups must submit their reports and, after revision, the results of the second round of research evaluation will be reported back to Mittuniversitetet's management board. This is expected to take place in early autumn.

− Our goal is that ARC21 will be a driving force in our work with quality development of our research and postgraduate education, says Håkan Wiklund.
