The announcement of funds to give our researchers time during 2024 to communicate their research has attracted record interest. Close to 40 applications have been received by the Communications Department.

The Vice Chancellor stated in November 2022 that there will be funds to stimulate research communication. The funds are a three-year effort where money is distributed annually during 2023-2025 to finance time for researchers who want to spend more time communicating their research. It is the Communications Department that administers the funds and is responsible for the selection.

– It is incredibly gratifying that so many people want to communicate research. Disseminating knowledge to the surrounding society is one of the many important tasks that rests on us as a university, says Marlene Berg, Head of Communications.

The Communications department annually has one million SKR to distribute to those who come in with applications. The compilation of this year's applications has now been made and the selection process has begun.

– This year we are facing a very tough challenge when it comes to the selection as the sum of the amounts requested in the received applications amounts to just over four million SKR. So everyone understands that the competition is fierce and we will certainly have to say no to many applications that we really wanted to approve, says Ronney Wickzell, press officer and representative of the working group at KOM that administers the funds.

The aim is to decide on the distribution of funds in early autumn. During the selection process KOM will engage in dialogue with both faculties.
