Time for HUV to elect a new faculty board

Fri 23 Feb 2024 11:36

During the spring, the Faculty of Human Sciences will elect a new faculty board. The vast majority of faculty employees have the right to vote in the election. Here's how it's going to work.

The Faculty Board consists of a chair (dean), five internal members, two external members, three student representatives, and two internal alternate members. The term of office is three years and the term of office of the current Faculty Board ends on 30 June 2024. The members of the faculty boards, with the exception of the dean and student representatives, are appointed by election.

The first step in the election process is the constitutive meeting of the Electoral Assembly, which will be held physically on both campuses on March 12 at 3:30 p.m. A nominating committee is appointed there, which is then tasked with producing proposals for members of the faculty board throughout the term of office, including in the event of a by-election, as well as proposals for a dean.

The Election Assembly consists of all those entitled to vote in the elections of the Nomination Committee and the Faculty Board. Who is entitled to vote is stated in the faculty's election regulations (see appendix, in Swedish). All eligible voters should have received a meeting invitation in Outlook to the constituent meeting of the Election Assembly on 12 March.

The Nomination Committee's task is to prepare proposals for members of the Faculty Board. When nominating candidates, the Nomination Committee shall strive for an even gender distribution and that members from both Sundsvall and Östesund are nominated. All nominees must have accepted the nomination.

On 8 May, the Nomination Committee will present its proposal for members of the Faculty Board. All eligible voters then have the opportunity to submit additional nominations to the Faculty Office no later than 20 May at 12:00.

On 27 May, the election of the Faculty Board opens and will be open for five days. The selection takes place digitally in Netigate. The last day for voting is 31 May. When the votes are counted, the results will be sent to all eligible voters by e-mail.

The Dean (Chair of the Faculty Board) is appointed by the Vice-Chancellor following a proposal from the Nomination Committee. The student representatives are appointed by the student unions.

The new Faculty Board will take office on 1 July 2024.
