On 23 April, the seminar series on academic freedom kicks off in F214 in Östersund. It is aimed at all staff and students. Registration is open and the program is now ready.

The program looks like this:

13.15 Welcome! Presentation of the seminar with Anders Fällström, Vice-Chancellor and Anna Olofsson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

13.20 Introduction: "How the railway industry's funding of Stanford has given us academic freedom" Anders Fällström, Vice-Chancellor.

13.35 "Institutional freedom or psychological safety – what is most important for academic freedom in the age of polarisation?" Helene Hellmark Knutsson, Chair of Mid Sweden University's University Board.

13.50 Stretch your legs

14.00 "What do we talk about when we talk about academic freedom?", Mats Benner, Professor of Research Policy, Lund University, Board member of Mid Sweden University Board.

14.30 Joint Q&A session with the speakers.

14.45 Presentation of the seminar series.

15.00 Post seminar with drinks and snacks. Serving in Ljushallen in building G.

The seminar will be held in F214 and will be broadcast live with the aim of informing, problematizing and strengthening academic freedom at the universities. The next seminar in the series will be held in Sundsvall this autumn and the theme will be about threats and violence.
