On 13 April, Mid Sweden University hosted the first ChallengeEU Research Matchmaking Workshop. A total of 44 researchers from the alliance's universities participated in a meeting with a focus on connecting competences and initiating joint research projects.

After a joint introduction, the participants worked in four groups based on different research themes: IoT and AI; additive manufacturing; stress and trauma as well as digital health, health economics and policy.

"The interactive format made it easy to quickly see where different research interests meet and how we can complement each other, The workshop became a clear starting point for an in-depth research collaboration within ChallengeEU, with several follow-up activities already decided," says Stefan Granlund, work package leader at ChallengeEU.

In the area of IoT, AI and electrification, the focus is on AI applications, data-driven development and AI in education and organizations. The group has started a joint communication channel and is planning a follow-up meeting in June.

"Representatives from the South East European University (SEEU) in North Macedonia were very interested in Mid Sweden University's public health research. We start the collaboration with a meeting to move forward with various research projects and the project application. I think it will contribute to good cooperation and outcomes from ChallengeEU," says Koustov Dalal, professor of public health sciences, speaking of the discussions in the group that talked about digital health, health economics and policy.

The Additive Manufacturing Group has also identified possible joint research areas and possible funding and will meet again at the end of May.
