Supported Education
At Mid Sweden University, Supported Education is offered as a method for providing early educational support with the aim of preventing mental ill-health and student dropouts.
Supported Education
Supported Education (SEd) is defined as the provision of individualised, practical support to help people with mental health challenges achieve their educational goals. The method is neither therapy nor purely counselling. Supported Education is a form of support that helps individuals choose, obtain, and complete the education of their own choice.
At Mid Sweden University, as a student you can receive support to develop important skills to remain in education. The support is offered in dialogue with an SEd mentor, based on the student’s wishes and needs. The number of students who can receive support at the same time is limited, but by agreement, you can be placed on a waiting list if no places are currently available. A resource inventory of any support around the student is carried out to ensure the best chance of success, satisfaction, and wellbeing in their studies. Support can be provided both remotely and through in-person meetings.
Through Supported Education, Mid Sweden University aims to contribute to a learning environment that enables more students to complete their studies, even if they experience difficulties or setbacks related to disabilities and/or mental health issues. The goal is to create more equitable conditions for students. The mentors are trained in the method and provide the student with support and assistance in their daily studies.
