Fertility Awareness and Contraceptive Use Among Abortion‑Seeking Women in Sweden During the COVID‑19 Pandemic
Despite good access to contraception, many women in Sweden have an unmet need. This study explores reasons for not using contraception at conception and factors linked to low fertility awareness among abortion-seeking women.
This project is based on survey data collected in 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, at seven family planning clinics in Sweden. In total, 623 abortion-seeking women participated. The questionnaire included 39 items on contraceptive use, fertility awareness, and background factors. The overall aim is to improve understanding of why some women do not use contraception at the time of conception and to highlight associations with low fertility awareness. The specific aims and analyses will be developed in collaboration with the supervisor. The project forms a sub-study, and both bivariate and multivariate analyses are planned.
