Help with taking notes
Cen be offered to students who are unable to take notes during lectures or in other teaching or learning situations due to disabilities. Often, a fellow student takes on the task. Please note that as a student, you must be present at the lecture to receive help with taking notes.
Adjusted course literature
Students with reading impairment are entitled to adaption of course literature, such as audio books, braille books or books with magnified text. Borrowing books from the library is free of charge. Please contact the library to get a library id.
A mentor can be a person you discuss your ideas with, who supports you in terms of organizing and planning your studies. Often, the student and the mentor meet on a regular basis during the studies.
The room is available for students with functional disabilities who are in need of special computer support. The room is equipped with height adjustable tables, computers with adjusted software, instruction folders and a scanner. The room can be booked via the student portal. Students who have been given access to the resource room by the coordinator, and who wishes an introduction to the adjusted software may contact the University Library at the campus.
Technical/pedagogic help equipment
During your studies, you have the opportunity to borrow simpler technical aids, such as handheld scanners and USB sticks (however, not computers or personal aids). Please note that you are only allowed to record the lectures you attend. Make sure to inform the lecturer before you record the lecture, and show him or her the certificate the coordinator gave you if necessary.
Sign language interpreter/note taker
For students with hearing impairment or deaf students, we offer sign language interpreter/note taker. If you need an interpreter, you must apply well in advance, preferably when you receive your admission decision. Hearing loops are available in some of the rooms.
Special arrangements in the context of an examination
Prolonged examination time, a room of your own or computer support are decided by the coordinator. Alternative examination methods can be offered by the examiner. Please register for your examination in the student portal.
Adjustment of rooms
Most of the Mid Sweden University rooms are adapted for persons with disabilities. There are hearing loops in some rooms. Should special arrangements be necessary, preparations must be made well in advance.
