Application process
The first step in your application to study abroad is talking to the program manager at the department. Find out which semester and exchange places that are suitable for your programme, and any restrictions in course choices abroad.
Application periods
Application for spring semester 2025: The application for spring semester 2025 (left-over places) is open May 1-15 2024.
Application period 2025/26: The application period for exchange studies autumn 2025 or spring 2026 is November 1 until December 1, 2024.
Application process
The application is online in the system Mobility-Online; the first part is an online form where you fill in your personal information, information about your current studies, the semester you wish to study abroad, the subject area you plan to study abroad and up to three partner universities in order of priority.
After you have submitted the online form, you will receive an email requiring you to go back into the system by following the link provided, and upload your supporting documents into the system. The supporting documents to upload are the following:
1. Personal statement
Your personal statement needs to be 1-2 pages, written to Miun’s reviewers in English. Please include the following information:
· Personal information (who you are and the purpose of your application to study abroad, how the experience will impact and add value to your studies and future career).
· The name of the host universities you are applying for and a list of courses that you would like to take at the host university/universities. Also include who at your department you have discussed your choices with. This is to ensure that the host universities offers courses that can be transferred towards your degree at MIUN.
If you cannot find courses available for the coming academic year, select from the current course availability. Be sure to choose from courses offered in the relevant semester (fall or spring).
2. Transcript of records
Download your transcript of records in English from the student portal/Ladok showing your completed courses at MIUN to date. Save as PDF on your computer before uploading. If you have completed courses at other universities too, please scan all your university transcripts into one single PDF file before uploading. Please note that only credits registered in Ladok will count towards your merit score.
3. Certificate of language proficiency (can be uploaded later)
Certificate of language proficiency is usually not required for admission to partner universities in Europe if studying in English, but may be needed later in the process if you plan to study in another language such as German, French, or Spanish, Italian.
Partner universities outside of Europe often require TOEFL results or similar. It is the student's responsibility to find out if a language test is needed and to cover the cost for the test.
4. Other supporting documents, if applicable
Certificate of involvement in the Student Union’s international committee, Buddy programme, or employment as a student ambassador. This adds extra merit to your application.
Notification of nomination
Notification of nomination to an exchange place is sent via email approximately 2 weeks after the application deadline. Please note that you need to respond to the offer in order to keep your place. If no response within a week, your application is cancelled. Further information is sent to those who respond that they accept their offer.
