Forskningsområde

Mitt huvudsakliga forskningsområde är förhållningsätt i palliativ vård med fokus på existentiella aspekter inom hälso-och sjukvård samt utbildning.

Bakgrund

Klassiska existentiella frågor är mening, döden, frihet och ensamhet, och kan kopplas till de fysiska, psykiska, emotionella, sociala, andliga, arbetsrelaterade och utbildningsrelaterade dimensioner. När livet är hotat av obotlig sjukdom ställs dessa frågor på sin spets och blir på ”riktigt”.

Forskningsområden

Forskningsområdets fokus är svåra samtal och existentiella aspekter som meningsfrågor hos patienter vid obotlig sjukdom och deras närstående, och hos studenter inom vård och omsorg på grupp- och individnivå. Forskning inom vård och omsorg och utbildning har inte rutinmässigt relaterat till existentiella aspekter i palliativ vård, trots att dessa är av betydelse i relation till individers välbefinnande, förmåga att hantera sjukdom, vårdandet samt studenters lärande. Målet är att med kvantitativa och kvalitativa metoder samt komplexa interventioner förbättra patienters välbefinnande, fördjupa kunskap om samtal i palliativ vård och dess genomförande, samt öka sjuksköterskestudenters kunskap om palliativ vård.

Pågående forskning

• Prata för livet – samtal i palliativ vård ett forskningsprogram med delprojekt:
1. Brytpunktssamtal och andra svåra samtal utifrån ett livscykelperspektiv
2. När personer i palliativ vård uttrycker att de vill dö i förtid – etiska aspekter och kliniska erfarenheter
3. Palliativ utbildningsintervention inom Bräcke diakonis äldreomsorg i samarbete med Betaniastiftelsen och Ersta Sköndal Bräcke högskola –utveckling, införande och utvärdering
• Sjuksköterskestudenters attityder i grundutbildning och på avancerad nivå till att vårda döende patienter
