Forskningsområden

My research interests concern welfare-state development and transformation, poverty and social provision, class structure and class analysis, and the spatial dimensions of social and economic change. My work is informed by political economy and draws methodologically on register-based research, statistics, and spatial analysis.

Forskning

In my PhD project, I examine how Swedish social assistance has changed across municipalities between 1986 and 2020. Using register data and spatial statistical methods, I trace long-term changes in recipiency and duration and investigate geographical clustering and interdependence across municipalities. The project approaches social assistance as a form of last-resort provision in a society where livelihoods are largely market-dependent and situates these patterns in relation to uneven labour markets and transformations of the welfare state.
