Information driven Forest Industry ‑ prestudy

This prestudy will bring together forest industry actors in industry, network actors and academia in order to develop a strategic initiative that will accelerate the use of AI-based information to contribute to sustainable and strengthened competitiveness for the Swedish forest industry.

The goal is to take the initiative to produce data, gather actors, build follow-up projects and create better conditions for the forest industry to be transformed with the help of AI.

The forest industry has both historically, now and in the future, accounted for very large investments and large current investments which, among other things, mean that large parts of the forest value chain will be automated and digitized. These investments create great opportunities to initiate and accelerate the use of AI in projects, pilot projects, studies and implementations in various processing components.

The project's great potential lies in accelerating the industry's transformation, efficiency, productivity and security by establishing a strategic initiative by accelerating the use of AI - based information in the forest industry. At the same time, the feasibility study project will provide important and relevant input to the industry in the form of generic knowledge applicable in other industries as well as an international perspective.
