Critical Welfare Research – Compliance and Resistance in a Changing Time – is a research group focusing on how the welfare system's practices affect people's health, working life and freedom of action.

We study the tension between adaptation and resistance within the institutions of the welfare state – in a time characterized by change, control and individualization.

By combining critical theories with collaborative approaches, we want to contribute to sustainable welfare systems that promote health and social justice – how it is defined, regulated and negotiated – and by whom.
