English linguistics
Research in the subject of English linguistics is conducted at Mid Sweden University based on the researchers' different areas of interest, competences and collaborations.
There is therefore no explicit specific research profile, but the subject is instead characterised by a broad palette of research projects and areas of interest.
However, some areas are common to several of the researchers. These include, for example, research on subject didactics, with a focus on the design of national tests in English, on the relationship between English studies in schools and in higher education, and on the study of English as a foreign language. There is also a strong emphasis on linguistic research focusing on grammar, corpus linguistics, sociolinguistics, variation studies and language history.
The subject is also characterised by well-developed networks and publications and participation in international conferences.
