Course Package: Ecosystem Services and Ecological Engineering, 30 hp
The course package consists of the following courses:
Ecosystem services 15 credits
This course deals with Ecosystem Services. It introduces the UN Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity report and other international efforts to describe, understand, implement and utilize the concept of Ecosystem Services.
Ecological Engineering - Introductory Course 7.5 credits
The course introduces the field of ecological engineering, and its strong connection to ecological modeling and systems ecology. Basic principles around this are introduced both theoretically and practically.
Ecological Engineering 7.5 hp
The course covers the field ecological engineering both theoretically and practically. Ecological engineering is the design of sustainable systems that integrate human society with its natural environment, the biosphere, for the benefit of both.
Entry requirements
The following course levels from Swedish Upper Secondary School (Gymnasium) or equivalent: Chemistry course 1, Mathematics course 3b or 3c or Mathematics C, and English course 6.
