Aim

The course is a part of the programme Master by Research in Engineering Physics, 120 credits, in which the student plans and carries through a research project. The aim of the course is to formulate the theoretical background of the project and to elaborate a well-arranged plan for the project.

Course objectives

Having completed the course, the students are expected to be able to:
- use tools for literature search such as search engines and databases and be able to formulate a relevant search profile
- select a research project and summarize the relevant literature of the research project
- write about the environmental and economic perspectives of a project
- draw conclusions about research questions and delimitations for the planned reserach project
- write a project plan in a scientific way
- orally present the background, the aim and the plan for the project

Content

The student will study his or her research field and formulate the learning outcomes and objectives of the project together with the supervisor. The term planning implies a rough plan of the items of the project, including possible complimentary studies. The course content will be reported through a project plan, where the background including relevant literature and an overall plan for the project work is presented.

Accepted to the programme Master by Research in Engineering Physics.

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

M101: Oral examination, 1.5 Credits
Grade scale: Fail (U) or Pass (G)

R101: Project plan, 6 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
