Aim
The course is a part of the programme Master by Research, 120 credits, in which the student plans and carries through a research project. The aim of the course is to formulate the theoretical background of the project and to elaborate a well-arranged plan for the project.
Course objectives
Having completed the course, the students are expected to be able to:
- use tools for literature search such as search engines and databases and be able to formulate a relevant search profile
- summarize the relevant literature of the research project
- write about the environmental and economic perspectives of a project
- report, motivate and argue in favour of a formulated scientific problem
Content
The student will study his or her research field and formulate the learning outcomes and objectives of the project together with the supervisor. The term planning implies a rough plan of the items of the project, including possible complimentary studies. The course content will be reported through a short introduction essay, where the background of and an overall plan for the project work is presented.
Entry requirements
Accepted to the programme Master by Research with specialization in Engineering Physics.
Selection rules and procedures
The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
Teaching form
The teaching includes supervised literature studies, writing of reports and a seminar.
Examination form
I100: Oral Presentation and Written Introduction Essay, 7.5 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
The examiner has the right to offer alternative examination arrangements to students who have been granted the right to special support by Mid Sweden University’s disabilities adviser.
