Course instance for a doctoral course and access to Canvas
If a doctoral course is to use course rooms in Canvas, a course instance needs to be created in Ladok that the course coordinator can be connected to, and doctoral students admitted and registered for.
Course room in Canvas
It is the faculty administrator for doctoral third cycle-studies who creates the course instance and makes connections and admissions in Ladok. Once this is done, the course room in Canvas is created automatically. Doctoral students get access to the course room (through admission and registration) and the course coordinator is connected to the course room. When the instance is created, the faculty administrator notifies the course coordinator. The course coordinator can then add more teachers inside the course room.

Doctoral students will be able to register for the course in Student-Ladok (Studentwebb) three working days before the start of the course and until the end of the course, unless other is stated below.
If there are external doctoral students participating in the course, IT can help create student accounts for access to Canvas. Then name, social security number and email address is needed. This is also needed for administrators to be able to admit the doctoral student to the course in Ladok. It can be stated in the form below.
Login
All participating doctoral students must log in with their student account in Canvas, not the staff account. To activate your account, read more here: How to activate your student account. It is possoble to contact IT support for help to activate or create an account.
To avoid login issues, Firefox is recommended for studies. Unlike Chrome and Edge, Firefox does not automatically use Windows login. Alternatively, an incognito window in any browser can be used to keep logins separate.
External doctoral students, admitted at other higher education institutions, can create an account themselves after being admitted to a doctoral course. If needed, IT Support can assist with creating an account.
In order to admit external doctoral students to the course in Ladok, the following information is required: name, personal identity number/date of birth, and email address.
