Hej Främling (Hi Stranger) – Community and Health from Leaders’ Perspectives
Social connection and participation are important for people’s health and well-being. Non-profit organisations can create meeting places and opportunities for social connection, particularly for people at risk of social isolation..
Hej Främling (Hi stranger) is a national non-profit organisation that creates meeting places and activities to promote social connection, inclusion and health among children and young people. Hej Främling was founded in Jämtland County but is now active across Sweden.
The study will be conducted as a qualitative interview study with approximately 12–16 leaders who are active within Hej Främling. The interviews are expected to take 35–45 minutes and will be conducted using a semi-structured interview guide.
Participants can be contacted through an established contact with a member of Hej Främling’s national board.
The preliminary aim is to explore leaders’ experiences and perceptions of how activities within Hej Främling can contribute to social connection, participation and health from a public health perspective. The specific aim, research questions, interview guide and analysis plan will be developed in collaboration with the responsible supervisor.
We would preferably like two students to work together on the project.
