Internships are sometimes part of the curriculum at Mid Sweden University, and it may be possible to do the internship abroad. For certain subjects, you may also be able to do your degree project or data collection abroad.
Erasmus+ traineeship grant
If you plan to do your internship or degree project in an EU / EEA country for at least 60 days, you may be eligible to apply for the Erasmus+ traineeship grant!
Erasmus+ traineeship grant is open to students at Bachelor, Master, and PhD level who will do a placement or thesis work at a company or organisation in another European country, for at least 60 days (max 12 months).
By doing a traineeship abroad with Erasmus+, you can improve your communication, language and inter-cultural skills, and also the soft skills highly valued by future employers.
Erasmus+ traineeship grant amounts
The grant amount is based on the country where traineeship takes place and the length of the traineeship. The scholarship is meant to help cover additional costs in connection with your stay abroad e.g travel and housing. It does not cover everything. Grants can vary from year to year, the current range is € 660- € 710 a month depending on host country.
Please note that it is not allowed to receive other grants or scholarships from the EU or the Swedish Council for Higher Education for the same period you receive the Erasmus grant for a traineeship.
Group 1: Programme countries with a higher cost of living: € 710 per month.
Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Liechtenstein.
Group 2: Programme countries with a lower cost of living: € 660 per month.
Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Netherlands, Malta, Portugal, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Republic of North Macedonia, Turkey, Serbia.
Green Erasmus+ scholarship
If you travel by train, bus or car pool for at least half of the distance to your traineeship destination within Erasmus+ you qualify for a top-up to your scholarship. If you choose to make stop-overs in other countries during your journey, make sure that you have sufficient insurance. The Student OUT insurance is valid only in the country where you will study and during as direct travel there as possible. The top-up is currently 50 EUR plus the extra days that it takesto travel is added to the scholarship (max 6 travel days total).
Support for students with disabilities and students with children
Participants with children or students with disabilities going on Erasmus+ exchange program are eligible for top-ups on their scholarships. It is also possible to apply for extra financial support to cover additional specific costs. The financial support is available only for participants with documented needs and students with children (regardless if the children come along during the exchange or not). Financial support could be granted for costs such as a note taker, sign language, psychotherapy, special transportation, higher costs for accommodation, and similar.
