Seeing is one of the main ways in which we understand the world, and digital technologies increasingly influence what and how we see. Modern visual systems do much more than display images: they can reconstruct environments, create immersive experiences, visualize complex data, and combine information across different modalities.
This lecture will present research on how such technologies can be designed and evaluated from a human-centred perspective. Starting from visual quality and perception, the lecture will move toward immersive imaging, visualization, and interactive systems, before discussing future opportunities in immersive analytics and multimodal artificial intelligence.
