May 10, STC arranged the Smart Industry conference together with Bron innovation. Keynote speaker of the day was the Minister for Enterprise and Innovation, Mikael Damberg. The theme of the day was to show possibilities and challenges with industrial digitalization.

The day started with inspiring presentations from Bernie van Leuween from the SKF Group and Peter Burman, responsible for the mine automation program at Boliden. They both presented examples of how digitalization effected their business and others. The afternoon showed more regional examples of Smart Industry when local industries like Valmet, CGI and SSG presented how the worked with digitalization.

Mikael Damberg, Minister for Enterprise and Innovation, ended the conference with his presentation why Sweden need Smart Industry. He presented the government´s new industrial strategy where sustainability and digitalization are two keywords. His main message to the audience was that the fourth industrial revolution is here now and it changes business logic completely where a fast switch-over is the key to becoming a global winner.

The conference was arranged within the research project SMART with the goal to increase the knowledge about smart systems and services so that regional companies can take advantage of this new market.
